FAQ

How are your singing bowls made?

Each bowl is carefully hand-crafted by skilled Tibetan artisans using traditional techniques. In accordance with an ancient Tibetan formula, our singing bowls are made of “panchaloga”, which is a Sanskrit word meaning a five-metal alloy that includes copper, zinc, iron and traces of gold and silver. Each of our singing bowls is among the finest in the world for aesthetic quality, richness of sound, sustainment of tone, and ease and smoothness of playing. Every singing bowl will be unique and may have some imperfections which add to the character of the piece.

Why are your singing bowls so well-priced?

Our singing bowls are of exceptional quality and will last a lifetime. While singing bowls of this quality typically retail for hundreds of dollars, we’ve decided to make them available at a much more affordable price in order to share their amazing healing benefit with as many people as possible. All we ask in return is that you spread light and joy throughout your world!

Many other manufacturers (mostly those selling on Amazon and Ebay) offer singing bowls at very low prices. Please beware of these manufacturers! In most cases these singing bowls have been mass produced on an assembly line and are of very poor quality both aesthetically and functionally. Mass produced singing bowls typically produce a more hollow sound and create far fewer vibrations. Many of our customers came to us and bought one of our singing bowls after having a bad experience with one of these manufactures.

We carefully test all of our singing bowls to ensure that they are harmonically balanced, which greatly help its listeners achieve a balanced state. Although other manufacturers are able to offer their singing bowls at lower prices, their bowls are harmonically un-balanced and out of tune. If you want to create harmony and balance, then please use a bowl that is harmonically balanced!

What are the benefits of singing bowls?

Singing bowls have incredible healing effects and are widely recommended by health practitioners. The vibrations created by a singing bowl benefit the body by:

In Ayurvedic medicine, illness is caused by disharmony within the body. Because matter is energy that vibrates at different rates, the structure of matter can be changed by altering the rate of vibration. The body and mind are healthy when they vibrate in harmony. When you play a singing bowl, the vibrations cause your body to emit alpha and theta brain waves in synchronicity with the vibrations emanating from your singing bowl. These brainwaves are essential to healing the body and mind and create an experience commonly referred to as “being in the zone”. An increasing number of mainstream medical institutions around the world use singing bowls in health treatment, including cancer treatment.

How much do your singing bowls weigh and what are their dimensions?

Our singing bowls each weigh approximately 1.25 pounds. They are approximately 5.5 inches in diameter and approximately 3 inches high. The rim’s thickness averages 1/8th of an inch.

In general, smaller singing bowls will create higher tones while larger bowls will produce a wider range of sound with deeper “om” tones. Because our singing bowls are large, have high walls, and have a thin rim, they produce a beautiful range of harmonic overtones including deeper tones.

The padded mallet weighs approximately 0.15 pounds and is 7.25 inches in length and 1 inch in width.

How do I play my singing bowl?

Your singing bowl is best played laying flat on your palm. This will permit the vibrations of the singing bowl to reverberate throughout your body for maximum health benefits.

It may take some practice to make your new singing bowl sing, but be patient, breathe deeply, and enjoy the learning process! For the beginners, we recommend softly striking the bowl with the padded-end of the mallet and then immediately and softly circling the rim of the bowl with the padded-end of the mallet. Make sure that you don’t clutch the singing bowl with your hand – it should be held lightly in your palm. Also ensure that you are circling the rim with the mallet at a consistent speed and using firm and even pressure. Although our bowls “sing” very quickly (which is a mark of a high quality bowl), beginners may need to circle the rim ten or more times before making the bowl sing for the first time.

If you apply these steps, you will soon hear your bowl “sing” and feel its incredible vibrations throughout your body! After 30 minutes of practice, you should be able to make your bowl sing almost immediately. Please watch our video below for a guided tutorial or read our blog post with step-by-step instructions.

What is the note of the sound made by your singing bowls?

When our singing bowls are struck they emit a beautiful and balanced note of B which resonates most strongly with the crown chakra. When our singing bowls are made to sing, they emit a beautiful and balanced note of F which resonates most strongly with the heart chakra.

For how long does the singing bowl ring after struck with the mallet?

Our bowls reverberate for approximately 10-15 seconds when struck. That is a lengthy period of reverberation for singing bowls and a mark of high quality. The lengthy reverberation makes our bowls ideal for meditation.
